Adel Theodor Khoury

Khoury studied with the priest of the Melkite Paulist community [1] in Lebanon and oriental philosophy and theology at the Jesuit University in Beirut and philosophy at Lyons. In Lyon, he habilitated with a thesis (Docteur d'Etat) of the Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Palaeologus in 1966 with Roger Arnaldez. Attention beyond the science, this publication was mainly because Pope Benedict XVI. 2006 quoted from it in a speech in Regensburg, [2] to a worldwide, led mainly Catholic-Muslim debate._x000D_

After his habilitation was Khoury among others Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Muenster. At this he was after his appointment in 1970 until his retirement in 1993 worked as professor and head of the Department of Religious Studies General of the Catholic Theological Faculty. Khoury is founder and director of the Center for Christian-Muslim dialogue in Harissa (Lebanon)._x000D_

Adel Theodor Khoury is an honorary Archimandrite and a brother of Lebanese religious philosopher Paul Khoury.
