Aki Shimazaki

Aki Shimazaki (Gifu, Japan, 1954). Canadian novelist and translator of Japanese origin. He moved to Canada in 1981, and has lived in Vancouver and Toronto. He currently lives in Montreal, where he teaches Japanese. He has been writing and publishing his novels in French since 1991. His second novel, Hamaguri, won the Ringuet Prize in 2000. His fourth book, Wasurenagusa, received the Canada-Japan Literary Prize in 2002, and his fifth work, Hotaru, the Governor-General Prize. 2005 fiction in the French language. Her books have been translated into English, Japanese, German, Hungarian, and Russian.
