Ali Eskandarian

Ali Eskandarian

Ali Eskandarian - (Pensacola, 1978 - New York, 2013) was an American singer, composer and writer of Iranian origin. During the Tehran Revolution, the Eskandarian family got political asylum in Germany and soon after moved to Dallas, Texas, where the young Ali had the opportunity to deepen in music and art. The Eskandarian songs were a mix of American folk, rock and traditional Iranian music that spoke of love, politics and loneliness. Compared to the critics with Bob Dylan and Jeff Bucley, Ali Eskandarian revealed himself as a kind of modern troubadour, one of the most powerful voices of our time. Eskandarian was killed along with two members of the band The Yellow Dogs on November 11, 2013.
