Ángel Díaz Arenas (Santander, 1937) is a Doctor of Romance Philology and Philosophy from the University of Salzburg (Austria) and of Literary Criticism from the University of Oviedo. He has been a professor of Hispanic literature at various European universities and at the Fu Jen University of Taipei (Taiwan). Since his retirement in 2002, he has devoted himself particularly to the study of the works of García Márquez, García Lorca, Vázquez Montalbán, Jorge Semprún, Jaime Siles, etc., on which he has published several books.
