Aníbal Quijano Obregón (1930-2018) was a prominent Peruvian sociologist, political theorist, and Marxist thinker, recognized as one of the founders of Latin American decolonial thought. Creator of the concept of "coloniality of power," he analyzed how the matrix of domination imposed in 1492 persists through race and Eurocentrism.
