Arno Gruen, born in Berlin on May 26, 1923, son of a stateless Russian and Polish Socialist, soon suffered the dehumanization that obedience and submission lead in men. In 1936, sunk in misery, the Jewish family fled to New York to Warsaw and Copenhagen. Arno Gruen became a psychoanalyst and became part of the intelligentsia of the metropolis. In the seventies he returned to Europe and has since lived in Zurich, where a therapist and journalist. Insightful and prolific author has published numerous books and articles in professional journals. The protest against any kind of determination of others is a pervasive theme in his life and his work.
