August Bebel (1840-1913) was a German Social Democratic leader. A member of the Assembly of the Northern Confederation, he opposed Bismarck's policy and imperialism. In 1869 he participated in the founding of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD) and became a leader and member of the Reichstag and one of the best propagandists of Marxist socialism. He wrote numerous works, among which he highlighted La mujer y el socialismo (1879).
