Daisetz T. Suzuki. He's Buddhist name Daisetz, meaning "Great Simplicity," was given to him by his Zen master Soyen Shaku.
Suzuki has been one of the pillars that paved the way for other Chan and Zen masters to make themselves known later. With his numerous books and essays on Buddhism, Zen, and Shin, he furthered Western interest in Zen and Shin spirituality. He was also a great translator of Chinese, Japanese and Sanskrit literature.
