Dany Laferrière, whose original name was Windsor Klébert Laferrière (April 13, 1953), is a Canadian intellectual, writer and screenwriter, born in Port-au-Prince (Haiti). He lives in Montreal, Canada. He received the Medici Prize for his novel The Enigma of the Return. He was appointed to the French Academy on December 12, 2013 for seat number 2.
