Diego Valadés Ríos (Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico; May 8, 1945) is a Mexican lawyer, jurist and politician. In the public sector, he has held, among other positions, that of Ambassador of Mexico in Guatemala, Undersecretary of Sanitary Regulation of the Ministry of Health, Secretary General of Metropolitan Coordination of the Department of the Federal District, Attorney General of the Federal District, Attorney General of the Republic and minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.
At the National Autonomous University of Mexico, he was deputy director of Radio UNAM, director of Cultural Diffusion, General Counsel, Humanities Coordinator and Director of the Institute of Legal Research, of which he is an emeritus researcher. He is also a level III researcher of the National System of Researchers.
He is a member of El Colegio Nacional, El Colegio de Sinaloa, the Mexican Academy of Language and the Mexican Academy of Sciences. He is a corresponding member of the Royal Spanish Academy (Spain) and the National Academy of Moral and Political Sciences (Argentina). He is vice president of the European Society of Culture. He is an honorary member of the Seminario de Cultura Mexicana.
