Donald Pfaff (Rochester, New York) graduated from Harvard College and obtained his doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since then he has devoted himself to the study of the brain as a regulator of behavior. He has written or edited more than twenty books and carries out his laboratory work on the functioning of the brain at Rockefeller University, in New York. He has been a member since 1992 of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and, since 1994, of the National Academy of Sciences.
