Elisabeth Tova Bailey. USA. Essayist and short story writer Elisabeth Tova Bailey suffered from a neurological disorder that left her too weak to even sit up. Due to her illness, which limits her contact with the outside world, she cannot reveal much of her identity, so she writes under a pseudonym. Her essays and short stories from her have been published in The Yale Journal for Humanities in Medicine, The Missouri Review, Northwest Review, and Sycamore Review. He has received the William Saroyan International Non-Fiction Award, the John Burroughs Medal for Distinguished Natural Histories, the National Outdoor Book Award in the Natural History Literature category, several Pushcart Award nominations, and a featured mention on the list of Best American Essays. Bailey is also on the Writers Council for the National Writing Project. His book The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating has found a special place in the medical humanities field and has been featured in prestigious publications such as Academic Medicine, Hektoen International, The Yale Journal for Humanities in Medicine, The Bellevue Literary Review, The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, Advance for Nurses Book Club, and numerous other national patient publications. The success of this book is such that it is also being used in secondary and higher education settings.
