Eyal Weizman

Eyal Weizman (Hebrew: איל ויצמן; Haifa, 1970) is an Israeli architect who lives between Tel Aviv and London. After graduating in the British capital, he collaborated with Zvi Hecker in Berlin. In partnership with architect Rafi Segal, he oversaw the reconstruction of the Ashdod Museum of Art, which opened in 2003, and projects for the Itim Theatre Company and the Tel Aviv Museum. The exhibition and catalogue, *A Civilian Occupation: The Politics of Israeli Architecture*, which he edited and curated with Rafi Segal, were banned by the Israeli Association of Architects but were later shown at the Storefront Gallery for Art and Architecture in New York, the Kunst-Werke Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, and the Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam, among other venues. The catalogue was published by Babel Press and Verso Press in 2003. Weizman has been a professor of architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, the University of Applied Arts Vienna, and the Technion in Haifa. He has directed research for the organization B'Tselem on human rights violations through architecture and urban planning in the West Bank. He has been published internationally. His other books include Yellow Rhythms (Uitgeverij 010 Publishers, 2000) and Random Walk (AASF, 1998).
