Frederick Marryat

Frederick Marryat (Westminster, London, Great Britain, July 10, 1792-Langham, Norfolk, United Kingdom, August 9, 1848) was an English seaman, novelist and friend of Charles Dickens, noted for being one of the first authors of novels on the marine life. The scenes and experiences through which he had passed constituted the basis and foundation of his many novels, of which the first, Frank Mildmay, was published in 1829, followed by more than thirty, among which he emphasized in particular his autobiographical novel The Midshipman Easy (1836).
