Fūtarō Yamada (山田 風 太郎 Yamada Fūtarō ?, January 4, 1922 - July 28, 2001) was the alias of the Japanese writer Seiya Yamada (山田 誠 也 Yamada Seiya?). He was born in Yabu in 1922. In 1947, he wrote the mystery novel Daruma-tōge no Jiken (達磨 峠 の 事件? Lit. "The Incident in the Dharma step"), with which he was awarded the Houseki prize (宝石?) . During his life he wrote a lot of novels about the ninja (忍 法帖 Ninpōchō series). Many of his works were adapted to film, television, manga and anime.
