Gastón Louis Alfred Leroux (May 6, 1868 - April 15, 1927) was born in Paris, France. French writer and journalist, renowned for his crime fiction, suspense and horror novels, which were published as serial stories in the Paris newspapers; Among his most outstanding writings are The Perfume of the Lady in Black (1909) and The Phantom of the Opera (1910).
