Gloria Gervitz

Gloria Gervitz (Mexico City, March 29, 1943) is a poet of Jewish descent from Ukraine. He currently resides in the United States.

Graduated in Art History, she has translated into Spanish works by Anna Akhmatova, Lorine Niedecker Marguerite Yourcenar, Samuel Beckett and Clarice Lispector.

At the age of 26, he began writing a long poem, Migrations, which was first published in 1979 and is still in the process, and since then new versions of the poem have appeared in expanded and revised editions. Migrations is the poet's main work and has been compared with other long-winded poems such as Los Cantos by Ezra Pound, Cántico by Jorge Guillén, Vertical Poetry by Roberto Juarroz or the work by Saint-John Perse.

In 2019, he received the Ibero-American Pablo Neruda Poetry Prize, awarded by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of Chile.
