Gustavo Varela is a professor of philosophy; researcher and professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires; academic director of the postgraduate course Social and Political History of Argentine Tango in FLACSO Argentina; Professor of Contemporary Thought at the Universidad del Cine and head of the Cultural Journalism seminar at the UNRN. Gustavo Varela was president of the Facultad Libre Foundation in the period 2005/2010. He is the author of the books Mal de tango (Paidós, 2005), Nietzsche and music (Ediciones del Zorzal, 2008) and Tango, an enlightened passion (Ediciones Lea, 2010).
