Harun Farocki

He was born in 1944 in Novy Jicin, Czech Republic, at that time, annexed to Germany. For more than 40 years, until his death in 2014, he lived and worked in Berlin. His work as an artist and filmmaker has had a decisive influence on the history of political cinema since the late 1960s. With more than 100 productions for television and film, Farocki, author and editor of Filmkritik magazine, curator and professor In Berkeley, Harvard and Vienna, has reflected on the relationship between society, politics and the image in movement. For many years, moreover, the relationship between technology and war has played a fundamental role in his works. He has written theoretical texts, screenplays and television scripts. His work was exhibited in Documenta 12 of Kassel and in numerous international retrospectives.
