Why is sexuality on the verge of a "short circuit" between ontology and epistemology? In this poignant book by Alenka Zupančič, it is analyzed that sexuality and knowledge are structured around a fundamental negativity that unites them at the core of the unconscious. The Slovenian philosopher maintains that the unconscious, linked to sexuality, is the concept of an inherent link between being and the knowledge of her own negativity. Thus, from this perspective, sexuality is considered as a properly philosophical problem for psychoanalysis, a psychoanalysis that refers to the exposed premises exposed by Freud and not to the type of clinicians Lacan calls "orthopaedists of the unconscious." If, in a conventional way, sublimation had been considered as a substitute satisfaction for lost sexual satisfaction, Lacan proposes other possibilities of obtaining exactly the same satisfaction that we obtain from sex (speaking, writing, painting, praying, etc.). The argument does not lie in explaining this satisfaction from its sexual origin, but rather that this satisfaction is already sexual in itself. The emphasis that opens the question of the title of this book does not lie in the answer obtained in the form of formulas or recipes, but in the opening in the intersections between philosophy and psychoanalysis.
