Hector Fix-Fierro. He completed his law degree studies at the UNAM Law School, from which he graduated in 1987.
Between 1993 and 1994 he studied the "International Master in Legal Sociology" at the International Institute of Legal Sociology of Oñati, Basque Country, Spain. In 1998 he obtained his doctorate in law from the University of Bremen, Germany. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Houston, Texas (2001) and a visiting researcher at the University of Bremen, Germany (2003-2006).
He has been a full-time researcher at the Legal Research Institute since 1991, in the area of Sociology of Law. He was Director of the UNAM Legal Research Institute (2006-2014).
His main lines of research are the reform of justice and the processes of legal change in Mexico. Since 1999 he belongs to the National System of Researchers.
