Henry David James

Henry David James

American author and essayist, Henry James was one of the great writers of the late nineteenth century, known as much for his novels and stories charged with psychological tension as for his essays on literary theory. His works are characterized by a great strength of the characters and their inner world, as well as by the combination of ideas and situations straddling old Europe and the United States. Throughout his career, James wrote such well-known titles as Another Turn of the Screw, Portrait of a Lady, The Ambassadors, The Golden Cup or The Boston Women.
