Hilda Hilst

Hilda Hilst (Jaú, 1930 - Campinas, 2004) was a poet, novelist and essayist, and is considered one of the greatest Brazilian writers of the 20th century, along with Clarice Lispector and Joâo Guimarâes Rosa. After building a solid career as a poet in his youth and maturity, Hilst decided to face an old age that he feared was imminent by writing feverish, playful, furious erotic books, such as these Contos d'escárnio, Cartas de um sedutor or A obscena senhora D. Pese To be a celebrity in Brazil, his work has barely been translated into English and French and remains unpublished in its entirety in Spanish.
