Howard Pyle

Howard Pyle (March 5, 1853 - November 9, 1911) was an American illustrator and writer, an expert on the medieval legends. It was inspired by English and Scottish folk songs to write The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood or Lancelot history and the round table. In addition he revolutionized illustration using for the first time, and gravure color printing techniques taught in his own school.

His most important illustrated books were The Adventures of Robin Hood (1883), A modern Aladdin, King Arthur and his knights (Story of King Arthur and his Knights), History of Lancelot and the Round Table and Book of Pirates.
