Ian Falconer (New York, 1959–2023) was a painter and illustrator who—before creating the Olivia series—had illustrated numerous covers for The New Yorker magazine. He was also known for his set and costume designs for the New York City Ballet, the San Francisco Opera, and Covent Garden, among others. This explains the homage he paid in Olivia to the world of classical dance and the artwork of Pollock and Degas. Following the success of that series, these adorable puppies are Falconer's new children's characters, and they are sure to capture readers' hearts. A clever and unforgettable story.
