Jan Chozen Bays, MD is a Zen teacher and pediatrician. He studied medicine at the University of California, San Diego. She trained as a Zen practitioner in the US and Japan. Since 2001 he has been co-abbot of the Great Vow Zen Monastery in Oregon. Author of the book, Comer Atentos, published in Spanish by the Kairos publishing house, a reference book in this field that has already been translated into 7 languages. She also wrote How to Train a Wild Elephant: And Other Adventures in Mindfulness in which 53 Mindfulness exercises are compiled. In 2016 Shambhala released her latest book, The Vow-Powered Life A Simple Method for Living with Purpose. Jan and Char have offered Mindfulness Based Eating Program trainings for professionals in the US, Mexico and Europe for the past 20 years.
