Jean Castex (Vic-Fezensac, June 25, 1965) is a French politician and official. He was Prime Minister of France from July 3, 2020 to May 16, 2022.

He was mayor of Prades between 2008 and even his appointment as Prime Minister in 2020. He has also served as general secretary of the Presidency of the Republic between 2011 and 2012 and as a member of the Regional Council of Languedoc-Roussillon between 2012 and 2015 and the General Council of the Eastern Pyrenees since 2015.

Since April 2, 2020, he was responsible for coordinating the gradual departure of the confinement implemented in France in the context of the Covid-19 Pandemia. He was appointed prime minister by Emmanuel Macron on July 3, 2020, happening to Édouard Philippe.
