Jerry Hopkins

American journalist and writer, correspondent and contributing editor of Rolling Stone magazine, and author of 36 books. In 1969 he temporarily left Rolling Stone to write Elvis's biography and began researching Morrison. No one gets out of here alive was rejected by more than 30 publishers before its publication in 1980, when it topped the New York Times best seller list and was credited by many as the best biography of the Doors, and inspired a new editorial genre, rock biography. He later published a continuation of Elvis's biography along with biographies of Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Yoko Ono, and Raquel Welch.
