Born in Madrid in 1933 studied Egyptology in Paris with Georges Posener, specializing in hieratic paleography, which became a top authority. In 1961 he settled in France and joined the CNRS. In the sixties he participated in the campaign to salvage of the Nubian monuments of UNESCO as epigrafista the Spanish mission. Between 1966 and 1968 he led the Spanish Archaeological Mission in Ehnasia el-Medina (old Heracleópolis). In 1982 he participated in the work of CNRS at the Temple of Karnak to study hieratic inscriptions. Between 1990 and 2002 he was a teacher aide Interuniversity Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the University of Barcelona and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. His most iconic work is the catalog (facsimiles, transcriptions and paleographic study) of hieratic ostraca in the Egyptian Museum in Turin. He has published numerous scholarly articles and edited several Egyptian literature literary texts of the New Kingdom hieratic.
