He is a poet and novelist. He lives on an isolated ranch in the western slope of Sonoma County and has served successively as harvesting apples, carpet installer, teacher, professional player, pastor and woodcutter. His other books include the novels Stone Junction and The Big Bopper Cadillac, and a collection of poems and stories Rain on the River.
