Joe Pernice was born in Massachusetts on July 17, 1967, and was a writer of songs rather than novels. He formed the band Scud Mountain Boys in 1991 and, six years later, his group more
emblematic: Pernice Brothers, with which he has released more than seven albums full of round themes. In that musical aspect, he has also collaborated with Norman Blake, of The Teenage Fanclub, under the name The New Mendicants. In 2010, he released a solo album titled It Feels So Good When I Stop, an album of favorite song versions that appeared in his debut novel, now published by Blackie Books as This song reminds me of me. The novel, applauded by writers such as Nick Hornby or George Pelecanos, confirmed it as a novelist at the height of his talent as a composer. Years before, in 2003, it had already been released in the publishing world. Specifically, in the framework of the series 33 1/3, where renowned authors talk about their favorite album. He chose Meat is Murder, the 1985 album of The Smiths, and already in that text that fresh but deep writing was glimpsed, also with autobiographical strokes, which he would later confirm with his great first novel.
