John Milbank

John Milbank is one of the most prominent Anglican theologians and controversial. He studied at Oxford, Cambridge and Birmingham and until recently held the prestigious Chair of Philosophical Theology "Frances Myers Ball", University of Virginia. He is currently a member of the theology department at the University of Nottingham, where he teaches political theology and contemporary political philosophy. During his stay in Cambridge, John Milbank stood out as the leader of the "radical orthodoxy", a theological movement of revolt against liberalism, which has sought to answer, from theology, the challenges posed by postmodern thinkers and deconstruction. He is the author, among other books, The Religious Dimension in The Thought of Giambattista Vico (1668-1744) (1991), The Word Made Strange: Theology Language and Culture (1997), coeditor of Radical Orthodoxy: A New Theology and co-Truth in Aquinas (2001).
