Jorge Veraza Urtuzuástegui was born on December 19, 1951. He read the Manifesto of the Communist Party by Karl Marx and Frederic Engels at the age of 16; and on the eve of the international revolutionary movement of 1968, the Manuscripts of 1844 at the age of 17; while during the first truly global crisis of capitalism (1971 and 1973) he read the first volume of Capital. In June of that year he entered the UNAM Faculty of Economics, graduating in 1979 with the title of Bachelor of Economics. Since 1983 he joined the teaching staff of said Faculty. He doctored in 1998 in Latin American Studies, he graduated from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the same university. He was a professor at the El Capital Seminar of the aforementioned Faculty of Economics between 1976 and 1984, and coordinator of the aforementioned seminar between 1981 and 1984. He was a professor of political science at the UAM Iztapalapa, between 1984 and 1986, and from 1986 to the date of the social psychology degree from the same university.
