Juan Carlos Moreno García

Juan Carlos Moreno García, PhD in Egyptology, is a senior researcher at the CNRS (Research Director, 1st class) at Sorbonne University, as well as a visiting professor at the École Pratique des Hautes Études (Paris). He has published numerous works on pharaonic administration, socioeconomic history, and landscape organization, usually from a comparative perspective with other ancient civilizations, and has organized several conferences on these topics. His recent publications include "Markets and Exchanges in pre-modern and traditional societies" (2021), "Storia dei Mediterranei. Imperi e culture tra terra e mare" (with P. Kyle Crossley, C. Marconi and C. Ruta, 2021), "Dynamics of Production in the Ancient Near East, 1300-500 BC" (2016), "LÉgypte des pharaons. De Narmer à Dioclétien (3150 av. J.-C.-284 apr. J.-C.)" (2016) and "Ancient Egyptian Administration" (2013). He is also editor-in-chief of The Journal of Egyptian History (Brill) and area editor ("economics") of the UCLA "Encyclopedia of Egyptology." In addition, he has launched two new book series on Egyptology: "Elements: Ancient Egypt in Context" (Cambridge University Press), in collaboration with Gianluca Miniaci and Anna Stevens, and "Multidisciplinary Approaches to Ancient Societies (MAtAS)" (Oxbow Books), in collaboration with Gianluca Miniaci.
