Kōjin Karatani

Kōjin Karatani (1941) is widely considered the most influential philosopher, social theorist and literary critic of Japan today. His thinking stands out for originally crossing Western philosophy, Marxism, literature and psychoanalysis. In 2022, he received the prestigious Berggruen Prize for Philosophy and Culture (considered by many the Nobel Prize of the discipline) in recognition of his profound conceptual restructuring of global capitalism and history.
