Leila Slimani

Leila Slimani was born in Rabat in 1981 to a Moroccan father and a Franco-Algerian mother. After completing his training at the French Lyceum in Rabat, he left for Paris to enroll in the Institute for Political Studies and, later, in the Higher School of Commerce where he specialized in media. After spending several years as a journalist at L'Express and Jeune Afrique, he decided to dedicate himself entirely to literature. With his first novel, Dans le jardin de l’ogre (2014), where he addresses female sexual addiction, he receives unanimous recognition from critics. Sweet song, his second novel, consolidates Slimani's literary career by obtaining the 2016 Goncourt Prize. In 2017, his controversial essay Sex and Lies is published in France. She is currently the French representative on the Francophone Council.
