Luca Valera holds a PhD in Bioethics from the Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma (Italy), with a thesis on the subject of human ecology, in the field of environmental ethics. Since 2015 he is a professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (Chile), where he was director of the Bioethics Center, and since 2020, he is a professor in the Department of Philosophy of the University of Valladolid (Spain).
He is the author of the books Ecologia umana, Invito al ben-essere and Arne Næss, as well as more than 70 articles and book chapters on the topic of environmental ethics, philosophy of new technologies and bioethics. In addition, he is editor together with M.A. Carrasco of the books Global Changes, Manual of applied ethics and 50 years of Bioethics; and together with P. López-Silva from the book Protecting the Mind.
