Luis López Ruiz was born in Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), one of the centers of greatest flamenco tradition in Baja Andalucía. PhD in Philology and retired professor, he has been director of the Hispanic Cultural Center of Madrid, where he has organized, for twenty years, flamenco monographic courses (lectures, auditions, videos and debates) for foreign teachers of Spanish. He is a member of the Chair of Flamencology of Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz).
