Doctor in Art History from the University of Seville. Professor of Art History at the University of Seville. Special Mention in the National End of Career Award. His doctoral thesis was conducted on Velázquez and the culture of humanism in Seville, awarded with the Focus Prize, and published in 2005. He has completed his research training in Italy, England and Sweden. He has been awarded with the Historia Ateneo de Sevilla awards (2008) and the II Alfonso E. Pérez Sánchez International Award (2010). He has also been recognized with the Award for Teaching Excellence by the University of Seville in several academic courses. He is Director of the General Research Service of the Photo Library-Art Laboratory. He is also a member of the Heritage Committee of the University of Seville.
