This book studies the autobiographical and handwritten narration of a German named Jerónimo Köler who, before passing away in 1573 and after a life in complete anonymity, wanted to leave as inheritance to his descendants a testimony of the efforts he made to achieve a place for your last name in the world. His ambition, his concerns and his character led him through some of the most important settings of his time. Germany, Austria, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Portugal or Spain would constitute the itinerary of his vital plans. Some plans that would be happening as they decomposed, and that finally led him as a destination to Seville and its port, with the mirage of America on the horizon.
Jerónimo Köler did not achieve his wishes because he returned without obtaining the financial solvency for which he fought, but his adventures offered him another type of luggage: a heritage in the form of texts and images that he left to his family and which is what has survived the weather. A manuscript, a consequence of his curiosity, feelings and talent, that offers us an enriching vision of an era, far beyond any material fortune.
