Maitreyi Devi

Maitreyi Devi (1914-1990) published her first collection of poems at the age of sixteen, with a preface by Rabindranath Tagore.

In 1965 she founded the "Council for the Promotion of Communal Harmony". Closely linked to the "Gandhi Peace Foundation" and the "Quaker Society of Friends", she was vice president of the "Coordinating Council of Women of All India".

Her publications include four volumes of poetry, eight books on Tagore, and four books on travel, philosophy, and social reform.
