Malcolm Hislop is an archaeological consultant with thirty years of experience in the investigation and interpretation of historical constructions. He is also an expert on the work of the 14th century master builder John Lewyn of Durham. Hislop regularly writes about medieval buildings in scholarly publications, and has a particular interest in the design and construction process in the Middle Ages. His published works include Medieval Masons (2000 and 2010) and Durham's John Lewyn: A Medieval Mason in Practice (2007).
