Manuel Marín

Manuel Marín is a painter, sculptor, draftsman, correísta art, professor and theoretician. He was born in Mexico City, in 1951. In 1974 he held his first solo exhibition, to date he has made more than 100, both in Mexico and abroad, and taught more than 20 courses on history and art theory, in addition to to have participated in a wide amount of colloquia, tributes and presentations of books of other authors. He is a member of the Academy of Arts in the Painting Section. There are pieces of his in several public and private collections. He has received several distinctions. Among the most recent are the Production Stay at the Svaneke Gaarden Foundation, Denmark, 2002. Deutsche Welle, Bonn selected as the representative artist of the American continent with the urban sculpture Crossed Communication. 2004. Artistic creator, SNCA-CONACULTA. He has published four theoretical books: Espacio y Cosas (1994), El tiempo de la pintura (1996), Intenciones del ver (2000) and Imagen (Petra Ediciones, 2007). He has also published the following illustrated books: Animals in the water of paper (1996), The box maga (2005), Juan O'Gorman. A self-portrait painting (2006) and Primavera (2006).
