Masaoka Shiki (Shiki Masaoka 正 岡 子規 ?, September 17, 1867 -19 September 1902) was a poet, literary critic and journalist Japanese Meiji period. His real name was Masaoka Tsunenori. Shiki was a renovator of haiku poetry, which is considered one of the four teachers with Matsuo Basho, Yosa Buson and Issa Kobayashi.
