Michele Wallace

New York, 1952. Michele Wallace is a black feminist author and cultural critic. She teaches English, gender studies, and film at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY) and the City College of New York. In the early 1970s, she was involved in the anti-militarist and anti-imperialist movement. She was a founder, with her mother, of the Women Students and Artists for Black Art Liberation (WSABAL), a movement that demanded the inclusion of black women's work in the art world, as well as the National Black Feminist Organization.
