Minka Nijhuis works for daily Trouw and collaborates with various magazines and radio stations. His reports sent from conflict zones do not talk about the war, but people who have it. He has previously published Een Theehuis in the jungle ("A tea house in the jungle" on the Burmese rebels, 1995), Smokkelwaar ("Merchandise smuggling", set in Burma, 1998) and De erfenis van Matebian ('inheritance Matebian "on East Timor, 2000, awarded the Prix des Ambassadeurs).
