Miquel Barceló

Born in Felanitx, Mallorca, in 1957 and considered from young one of the great artists of our time, Miquel Barceló early deserves international recognition with his participation in Documenta in Kassel in 1982. His work has been exhibited in prestigious galleries art, like Whitechapel London, Leo Castelli New York or Zurich Bruno Bischofberger and artistic centers like the Centre Georges Pompidou, the MACBA Museum de Arte Reina Sofía Museum and the Louvre. His work includes painting, sculpture and ceramics. Examples of his varied artistic interests are his latest works for the illustration of the Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri and decoration of the chapel of Sant Pere Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca. In 2003 he received the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts.
