He was born on the outskirts of Paris in 1974. In 2000 he published his first novel, Je vais bien, ne t'en fais pas, followed in 2001 by À l'Ouest and a year later by Poids léger. In 2004 Adam presented his first book of stories: Pasar el invierno, whose publication by Errata naturae editores is the first translation of his work into Spanish. With the passing of the winter Olivier Adam won the prestigious Goncourt Story Award and was distinguished by Le Figaro as the less-than-forty-year-old writer most valued by French critics. The author's last two books, Falaises (2005) and À l'abri de rien (2007) have been finalists of the Novel Goncourt Prize, confirming this author as one of the indispensable writers of the contemporary French narrative. On the other hand, Olivier Adam has also worked in the field of cinema, writing the script for a film based on his first novel and directed by Philippe Lioret. The film was presented in 2006 and received five nominations for the César Awards from the French Academy, including Best Film and Best Direction for Lioret and Best Adapted Screenplay for Adam.
