Pablo Abascal Sherwell Raull

Pablo Abascal Sherwell Raull holds a Bachelor's degree in History from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City (2010) and a Master's and Doctoral degree in History and Civilization from the European University Institute in Florence (2015). During his doctoral studies, he conducted research at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris (2014).
His research focuses on Jesuit colleges in New Spain, their fate after the expulsion of the Society of Jesus in 1767, and the history of education in New Spain (16th-18th centuries).
He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (2016-2017) and another at the Institute for Research on the University and Education of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (IISUE-UNAM) (2020-2022). She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in history and other disciplines at the FES Acatlán, the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, the Claustro de Sor Juana, and the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, among other institutions. In 2025, she held the Edmundo O’Gorman Chair in Historiography at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Azcapotzalco campus.
