Patrick Harpur studied English literature at the University of Cambridge. He traveled to Africa and worked in publishing. In 1982, he left his job to devote himself exclusively to writing. He is the author of two novels, The Serpent's Circle` `and` The Rapture`, and a book of worship: a modern journal entitled 'alchemical Mercurius, or the Marriage of Heaven & Hell`; but it is in the essay field where he had a greater international impact with the publication of `Daimonic Reality: A Field to the Otherworld` and this book. He currently lives in Dorchester, England.
